Know all men by these presents that we Wm Stary of the parish of Ludlow in the County of Salop, Baker, and Samuel Pearce of the s[ai]d parish, Husbandman, held and firmly bound to the Right Reverend Father in God Henry by divine permission Lord Bishop of Hereford in the sum of one hundred pounds of good & lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid to the said Right Reverend Father or his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assigns for the true payment whereof we bind ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole and every part thereof and the Heirs, Executors and Administrators of us and each of us firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals. Dated the 30th day of October in the sixteenth year of the reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Irealnd, King, Defender of the Faith. And in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty three. The condition of this obligation is such that if there shall not hereafter appear any lawful let or impediment by reason of any pre-contract, consanguinity, affinity, or any other just cause whatsoever but that the above bounden Wm Stary of the parish of Ludlow in the County of Salop aged abt 40 years, Widower, & Anne Jones of the s[ai]d parish aged abt 29 years, Spinster, may lawfully marry together; and that there is not any suit depending before any Judge Ecclesiastical or Civil, for, or concerning any such pre-contract. And that the consent of the parents or others the governors of the said parties, be thereunto first had and obtain'd; and that they cause their said marriage to be openly solemniz'd in the face of the parish church of Ludlow afores[ai]d between the hours of eight and twelve of the clock in the forenoon. And do and shall save harmless and keep indemnified the abovenam'd Lord Bishop his Vicar Gen[era]l his surrogates and all others his officers and successors in office for and concerning the premises. That then this said obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue. Signed and delivered (being first duly stamped) in the presence of E Cornwall John Bluck Willm Starie Samuell Pearce Oct 30th 1743 On w[hi]ch day appeared personally Wm Stary of the parish of Ludlow in the County of Salop & Diocese of Hereford & alledged that he being of the age of 40 years & a widower at his disposal intends to marry with Anne Jones of the sd parish aged abt 29 years Spinster at her own disposal and that there is not any lawful let or impediment by reason of any precontract, consanguinity, affinity or any other just cause w[ha]tsoever (as he knows or believes) to hinder the sd marriage of the truth hereof he made oath & prayed licence to be granted according to the canon.
