Conditio istius obligationis est talis quod si nullum constabit impedimentum praecontractus, consanguinitatis, affinitatis vel alterius causae cujuscunq; quin Johnannes Stary ca[e]l[ebs] et Eliza: Smith puella legitime matrimonium solemnizent; Et si nulla sis seu controversia mota sit vel dependet coram aliquo judice, pro aut concernens hujusmodi impedimentum, et si ad matrimonii solemnizationem non precedent sin assensu parentum, vel gubernatorum suorum, & si dicta solemnizatio fiat in facie ecclesiae po[chi]a St Martius Wigoria inter horas canonicas; et si praedictus Johes Stary indemnes conservabit praedictum reverendum patrem & ministros suos contra omnes personas pro concessione licentiae solemnizandi matrimonium inter eosdem Johem et Elizam Et pro omnibus causis inde contingenibus, Quod ista obligatio sit vacua, aliter suo meaneat robore et vigore,

[The condition of the obligation is such that if there shall not hereafter appear any lawful let or impediment by reason of any pre-contract, consanguinity, affinity, or any other just cause whatsoever but that John Stary batchelor and Elizabeth Smith a maiden may lawfully marry together. And in that there is not any suit depending before any judge for or concerning any such pre-contract and if the consent of the parents or others the governors of the said parties be thereunto first had and obtained and that they cause the said marriage to be openly solemnised in the face of the parish church of St Martins Worcester between the canonical hours. And if the above named John Stary shall save harmless and keep indemnified the abovenamed reverend father his surrogates and all other his officers and successors in office for and concerning John and Elizabeth. That then this obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue]

GEORGE STERRY AND ELIZABETH SOUTHAN
4 Nov 1760

Know all men by these presents that me George Sterry of the parish of St Andrew in the City and Diocese of Worcester, Cloathier and Jane Southan of the parish of St Nicholas in the same city, widow are held and firmly bound to the Right Rev. Father in God James by divine permission Lord Bishop of Worcester in one thousand pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Lord Bishop or his certain attorney executors administrators or assigns for the true payment whereof we bind ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole and every part thereof and the heirs, executors and administrators of us and each of us firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals. Dated the fourth day of November in the first year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty.

The condition of the obligation is such that if hereafter there shall not appear any lawful let or impediment by reason of any pre-contract entered into before the twenty fifth day of March one thousand seven hundred and fifty four consanguinity affinity or any other lawful means whatsoever but that the above bounden George Sterry and Elizabeth Southan of the parish of St Nicholas aforesaid (daur of the above bounden Jane Southan) a spinster may lawfully solemnize marriage together and in the same aftwards lawfully remain and continue for man and wife according to the laws in that behalf provided and moreover if there be not at this present time any action, suit, plaint or quarrel or demand moved or depending before any Judge Ecclesiastical or Temporal for, or conerning any such lawful impediment between the said parties nor that either of them be of any parish or better estate or degree than to the Judge at granting if the licence is suggested and by George Sterry sworn to upon the day of the date hereof.

And lastly if the same marriage shal be openly solemnized in the church in the licence specified between the hours appointed in the constitutions ecclesiastical confirmed according to the form of the Book of Common Prayer now by law established and of the above bounden George Sterry and Jane Southan do save harmless the said Lord Bishop his Chancr. Regr. his Surrogate and other his Officers whatsoever by reason of the promises then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue. Sealed and delivered in the presents of Geo Sterry, Jas Palmore, Jane Southan [her mark]

Appeared personally George Sterry of the parish of St Andrews in the City and Diocese of Worcester, Cloathier and being sworn on the Holy Evangelists alledged and made oath as follows that he is of the age of thirty years & upwards, a widower and intends to marry Elizabeth Southan of the parish of St Nicholas in the City and Diocese aforesaid, aged twenty three years & upwards, a spinster, not knowing or believing any lawful lett or impediment by reason of any precontract entered into before the 25th March 1754 consanguinity affinity or any other cause whatsoever to hinder the said intended marriage and he prayed a licence to solemnize the same in the parish church of St Nicholas aforesaid in which said parish the said George Sterry further made oath that she hath her usual abode for the space of four weeks last past. Let a licence be made on the said George Sterry being first sworn before me Thomas Miles, Surrogate. THOMAS STAREY AND ANNE BRADLEY
27 May 1763

1763 May 27 Appeared personally Thomas Starey of the Parish of Saint Andrew in the City and Diocese of Worcester Glover and being sworn on the Holy Evangelists alledged and made oath as follows That he is of age of fifty five years and upward a widower and intends to marry Anne Bradly of the said Parish of Saint Andrew aged twenty five years and upwards a Spinster and knowing or believing any lawful letter impediment by reason of any precontract entered into before the 25th of March 1754 consanguinity affinity or other cause whatsoever to hinder the said intended marriage and he prayed a Licence to solemnize the same in the Parish Church of Saint Andrew in Worcester aforesaid And the said Thomas Starey further made oath that he hath had his usual abode in the aforesaid parish of Saint Andrew for the space of four weeks last past.
