Since last week, I have been in contact with Jennifer Andrews in Stanningfield. She says that she has seen the church records for St Nicholas, Stanningfield, and that Emily Sterry is shown as being burial number 565, the burial taking place on November 4th 1924. There is no gravestone, so she don't know where exactly she is buried in the churchyard. Apparently, the 565 is just a chronological number rather than a plot number. This date would appear to tie in with her death certificate which says that she died on 29th October 1924.

Shared note
Born at 9 Harpur St, Holborn, London, England. Visited Australia: 1927 Cyril D J Sterry, 24, M, London, Australia, Fremantle (Source: Find My Past Passenger Lists) His son, David Sterry, added the following information on his father's time in Australia: 'The outward ticket from London to Fremantle is dated 15 August 1927. He paid 29 pounds and ten shillings, which consisted of 16 pounds 10 shillings for the carriage and 13 pounds landing fee! He stayed in Western Australia for nearly three years, working in the Wheat Belt at various places near Dalwallinu, Pithara and Kalannie. Unfortunately after a couple of years the work ran out, and so he went to Perth. He stayed there for several months seeking work, but without success, and so on 24th May 1930 he purchased a ticket to sail on the P & O boat 'Baradine' back from Fremantle to London. On his ticket, the expected date of departure is shown as 16th June 1930, and he paid 38 pounds for the return journey. If he had found work then his life could have turned out to be very different.' Funeral service of Cyril Sterry was held at the Driffield Methodist Church, Driffield, East Yorkshire. (Info. David Sterry Letter 11.2.2001) 1939 UK Register [2647i 026] Newport M.B.
