Shared note
Surname also "Stirry".  Richard Sterry is almost certainly related to John Sterry(Stirry) of Ruardean, Gloucestershire born about 1515 who married Alice. Walter Smith proposes that William Sterry bp 1693 and buried 1694 at Longhope, the son of William and Jane, was not an error in the parish register but rather that William the father was in fact a brother of Richard Sterry and Jane who were also baptising children in Longhope at this time. Cecily Sterry proposes that Richard Sterry (Stirrie) had brothers William, Abraham (senior) bn after 1647, Thomas bn aft 1668 and Thomas bp 1666 bur 1668 all of whose father was Abraham Sterry (1626-1666/1718) on the Ruardean line.
