PROBATE SARAH STERRY
[POTTSVILLE, 1884]

 

Last Will &c of Sarah Sterry dec’d

In the name of God Amen.

I Sarah Sterry of the Borough of Pottsville in the County of Schuylkill and State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this as and for my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

And First – I order and direct that all my just debts shall be first paid out of my estate by my Executor hereinafter named
Second – As to such estate as the Lord has blessed me with I direct as follows:
Third I give bequeath and devise all my real estate of whatever kind and wherever situate to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Truman wife of James Truman of the Borough of Pottsville to hold to herself and heirs forever
Fourth – I give and devise all my personal property of whatsoever kind and wherever situate unto my said daughter Elizabeth Truman
Fifth – I nominate constitute and appoint my said daughter Elizabeth Truman the sole Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I Elizabeth [sic] Sterry the Testatrix have to this my Will written on one page of paper set my hand and seal this 11th day of August AD one thousand eight hundred and eighty four. Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Elizabeth Sterry as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other Elizabeth Truman, H. H. Hill

Before me Chas. C Matten Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for Schuylkill County personally appeared Elizabeth Truman and H. H. Hill subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Sarah Sterry late of the Borough of Pottsville in said county, deceased, who being by me duly sworn according to law, did depose and say that they were present and did see the testatrix Sarah Sterry now deceased sign, seal and heard her publish, pronounce and declare the above and foregoing instrument of writing as and for her last will and testament and at the time of the doing thereof, the said Sarah Sterry was of sound mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief.
