Know all men by these presents, that we James Morris as principal are holden and stand firmly bound and obliged, jointly and severally, unto the State of Connecticut in the penal sum of two hundred dollars, to be paid to said State or to its certain attorney. To the which payment well, and truly to be made, we, the said obligors, do bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, and each and every of them, for and in the whole sum aforesaid, firmly by these presents. Signed with our hands and sealed with our seals this 15 day of October 1888.

The condition of this Obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden James M Benton has been appointed by the Court of Probate for the District of Litchfield, Administrator on the Estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said District deceased. Now, therefore if the said James M. shall well and faithfully discharge the duties of his appointment according to law then the above obligation to be void and of none effect, otherwise to remain in full force, power and virtue.

To the Probate Court for the District of Litchfield Estate of John R. Sterry late of Morris in said district, deceased.
The subscriber represents that John R. Sterry last dwelt in the town of Morris in said district, and died on the 2nd day of February A.D. 1884, possessed of goods and estate remaining to be administered, leaving a widow, whose name is Desdemonia [sic] Sterry and as his only heirs-at-law and next of kin, the persons whose names, residences and relationship to the deceased are as follows, viz:

and that said deceased left no will.

Wherefore your petitioner prays that letters of administration may be granted to her Mrs Desdamonia Sterry. The undersigned, being all the heirs-at-law, next of kin, and devisees and legatees interested in the foregoing petition, accept service and waive notice of the pendency of the foregoing petition. To the Hon. Court of Probate for the District of Litchfield
The undersigned Administrator on the estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said District deceased hereby makes return that pursuant to the order of said court made on the 4th instant relative to the notice to be given of the hearing upon his petition that the settlement of said estate might be completed without the appointment of Commissioners, he published said order in the Litchfield Enquirer a newspaper having a circulation at Litchfield in its issue of May 9th 1889. Dated at Litchfield this 11th day of May 1889

To the Hon. Court of Probate for the District of Litchfield
The undersigned Administrator on the estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said District deceased hereby represents that said estate, exclusive of the articles which may be legally set out to the wife of the deceased and the allowance for her support and that of her family will not be more than sufficient to pay the funeral expenses and the expenses of settling the estate and of the last sickness and the lawful taxes and debts due to the state and to the United States, and therefore prays that the settlement of said estate may be completed without the appointment of Commissioners.

At a Court of Probate holden at Litchfield in and for the District of Litchfield on the 4th day of May 1889 Present Geo M Woodruff, Judge
Upon the petition of James M Benton, Administrator on the estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said District deceased praying that the settlement of said estate may be completed without the appointment of Commissioners, it is ordered that said petition be heard at the Probate Office in Litchfield on Saturday the 11th day of May 1889 at ten o'clock in the forenoon and that public notice be given to all persons interested to appear at said time and place, if they see cause, by publishing this order in some newspaper having a circulation in this District at least two days before the said day of hearing and return make to this Court.

District of Litchfield Probate Court Octr 3 AD 1888 Ordered that the foregoing application be heard and determined at the Probate Office in Litchfield in said district on the 15 day of October AD 1888 at 10 o'clock in the forenoon and that public notice be given of the pendency of said application and the time and place of hearing thereon, by publishing the same once times in some newspaper having a circulation in said district

To the Probate Court for the District of Litchfield Estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said district deceased.
The subscriber administrator on said Estate, having been legally sworn, __ and says that all of the estate of said deceased so far as he has been able to ascertain consists of a deposit in the Woodbury Savings Bank annuity on the 15 of July 1888 to the sum of $82 89/100 but that the deposit book therefor cannot now be found but is supposed to be in possession of the widow of said deceased.

To the Probate Court for the District of Litchfield Estate of John Sterry late of Morris in said district deceased. The subscriber hereby makes return: that pursuant to the order of said Court, made on the 15 day of October 1888 allowing six months for the creditors to exhibit their claims against said Estate, and directing notice to be given as by said order on record more fully appears he gave public of said order, and time allowed by said Court, by posting a notice thereof on the sign-post nearest to where the deceased last dwelt, in said town of Morris and publishing the same in the Litchfield Enquirer a newspaper having a circulation In the Probate district of Litchfield.

And that within the said time allowed, the following claims were exhibited to him against said Estate, as follows

Wm Forbes book a/c $48.12
John Fish book a/c $78
Total $126.12

But was not acted upon by him as said estate proved insolvent and was settled without the appointment of Commissioners.
