ESSEX WILLS

Archdeaconry Courts of Essex 1577-1597 index to all wills (Colchester, Essex, Middlesex: Essex & Herts div, Bishop of London's Commissary: Essex & Herts div, Peculiars of Writtle with Roxwell, Good Easter, Bocking and the Sokens)  searched without locating any Sterrys. (Although there were Steres mentioned in wills in Great Horkesley 1580 and Boxted 1585 and a Henry Stere, vicar of Little Baddow was a beneficiary in a will in 1581). Abstracts of all Essex wills in P.C.C. 1558-1603 and wills for all courts above were checked in Elizabethan Life vol 4: "Wills of Essex Gentry and Merchants" and Elizabethan Life vol 5: "Wills of Essex Gentry & Yeoman" respectively. Abtracts of all the reminder of the three Archdeaconry Courts were checked in Essex Wills Vols 1-3, 1558-1577 without finding any Sterrys although Steres were found in Great Horkesley (1565 & 1568) and Ramsey (1566).
